Pilates has your back

One of the most common reasons clients come to my studio is complaining of lower back pain. And when you think about it, it makes sense. Our lives involve so much sitting which creates tight hip flexors (those muscles running across the front of our hips), weak glutes and not enough movement.

When we add the pandemic world we live in, so many of us are working from home and may not have the ideal office set up. No ergonomic desk or chair, no staff nearby to tell us to grab a coffee and get up from our desk.

I won’t even start on people who tell me they work from a laptop on the couch!

So what can you do about this back pain?

Well, movement is the key. Less sitting, building up glute strength, stretching hip flexor muscles are all a part of it. If you want some real success, Pilates is the answer. And don’t just take my word for it!

The scientists, who know far more about this than I do, assessed and analysed different movement types to determine what exercises give the best results for chronic lower back pain. And guess what one of the winners was? You guessed it, PILATES! Cue happy dance. Feet in straps. Scooter...You get it...

"Pilates exercises were found to be more effective for pain outcomes than other comparison treatments and other types of exercise treatment”*

One of my clients, James, can attest to how Pilates has been successful for him and his lower back pain. He gave me a Google review last year (so kind, I always love public compliments so thank you!):

“I would definitely recommend Wellspring Pilates to anyone who is experiencing back, shoulder or neck problems. I have trained with Holly for approx. 18 months now and I have drastically improved as a result of her guidance. Holly is very knowledgeable and continues to tailor my program to ensure that I do not experience the problems I have encountered in the past. Thanks Holly!”

So if you want to see some real improvements with your back in 2022, then book in to see me at Wellspring Pilates. I am here to help you move better. Book your session today!

Till next time Wellspringers,

Holly xx

PS Because I'm still a lawyer at heart, it seems a crime not to quote where this comes from and let you read it from the source direct.
