Some of my clients this year have talked about how Pilates is now “maintenance” for them. What might have started as an exercise to help with back pain or knee discomfort has moved towards care for the long haul. My clients want to be strong into their 50s, 60s, 70s and beyond and Pilates is now a part of their regular regime that keeps everything well tuned.
Kathy Grant once said
Think of Pilates as tuning up the car for the long journey
So who is Kathy Grant? Well let’s say if Joseph Pilates was Dumbledore, the Headmaster at Hogwarts (for Harry Potter fans) then Kathy Grant would be Professor McGonagall. Kathy Grant was taught by the guru Mr Pilates himself so she probably has some good things to say!
One of my male clients has been seeing a chiropractor for a long time. He started Pilates for the first time only a few months ago. By being consistent and attending weekly sessions, he has seen a huge reduction in his back pain. He told me this week that his chiropractor couldn’t believe how much better he was moving and how his chiropractic sessions have extended to 5 weeks instead of fortnightly.
So think about your body.
Have you given it a fine tune lately?
Are you in it for the long haul?
How do you want your body to be in 10, 20+ years time?
If you are already doing Pilates, excellent. I encourage you to be consistent and keep at it. If you haven’t tried it before, why not give it a go? We welcome everybody at Wellspring Pilates and I’d love to show you what I can do to help you move better.
Till next time Wellspringers
Holly xx
