It's a challenging time of the year - there's a real push-pull from family, friends, work and a strong need to get everything done before Christmas. Before we know it, it will be January and there will be work again, maybe a family holiday then perhaps getting the kids settled at school/kindy/daycare. And then it's February and maybe then you will take a breath and ask
Is it time for me yet? What can I do for myself?

But it won't happen unless you make it.
February could involve volunteering at the kid's school, birthday parties, swimming lessons, helping out elderly parents, dealing with a work crisis until you hear yourself saying - I just need to get to Easter and I'll have a mini holiday. And guess what, a quarter of the year has gone by and self care hasn't been a priority. You feel burnt out and your high hopes for 2022 aren't shining as bright as they were in January.
I hear this all the time from clients, friends, family no matter what time of the year it is.
"I just need to get past.... (insert current priority) and then I can (insert what I really want to do).
Unfortunately life just happens. There will always be a reason not to do something you want to do. Whether it's Christmas, kids, school, aging parents, illness, a work crisis and so on.
I'm not saying you have to come to Pilates (although I do think it's amazing and I'd love to help you move better.) What I suggest is that you find some time and carve it out for yourself. EVERY. SINGLE. WEEK
We all know the benefits of exercise
endorphins
better quality sleep
lower stress levels
healthier eating
moving better
avoiding/minimising pain.
So for me, I want to make 2022 the year of having a dedicated exercise regime. Weekly Pilates, walking (for me, not the dog or the kids!) and taking up a new hobby, swimming. I'm not a swimmer - more like a floater in the pool with a li-lo and a cocktail kind of girl! But I'm pushing myself out of my comfort zone and trying something new. This is about creating balance and making me a happier, stronger person.
What are you going to do for yourself in 2022?
